I bought a car yesterday. It's a 1989 Volvo 240 DL, and I got it (of course) in Ballard. I need to take it into the shop for a checkup and fluid change on Monday, so I'm not driving it until then. That also gives me time to change the title, put the registration in my name, and buy my zone 13 pass (parking).
I've realized I'm not so good at parallel parking anymore, so I might be asking one of my friends for "lessons"...
The car is nice, it's a $3200 for which I paid $1800, and the insurance is less expensive than I was expecting, since it's a late-eighties Volvo.
It only gets about 26 miles/gallon on the highway, and it averages less than 24, but I don't drive that much and recycling a car is far more efficient than producing a new one. Will and Maggie, if you have any suggestions for how I can green my car (either in or out), I'd love to hear it.
Oh, did I mention it has a bike rack? It does. And a CD/MP3 player, which I can pop out and take with me whenever I leave the car.
