Well, according to Newsweek, the name of the new DATDA teacher is Dean Thomas. *L* This may not make any sense at first glance, unless you've visited jkrowling.com, where she's posted bits about characters and such that (so far) haven't made it into her books. On the website, she has a bit more about the student Dean Thomas, that he was raised by his mother and his stepfather, both of whom are Muggles. Turns out that Dean's father, a wizard, left when he was quite small and then was killed by Death Eaters when he refused to join them. Until he got his letter from Hogwarts, Dean didn't know anything about the wizarding world, either. This would also make him a candidate for the Half-Blood Prince, now, wouldn't it. However, being that it does say that Dean's father is dead, this person may be a relative of Dean's. Also interesting is that J.K. Rowling said that a lot of this history got cut from Chamber of Secrets.
