I've got a good sized box of paperbacks I've decided to get rid of. I've always been something of a book hoarder, and enjoy having an extensive personal library, but let's be honest: are there any circumstances under which I would possibly be driven to reread those Wild Cards or Shadowrun novels? Even in the most extreme scenarios I can imagine in which I am trapped in my apartment for a year by a zombie apocalypse or something, I'm pretty sure I'd just end up re-reading soup labels before I'd voluntarily try to care about Dr. Tachyon and his doings at the 1988 Democratic National Convention again.
So that being said, what do you folks do when you want to get rid of old paperback books? Do you drop them off at Goodwill or a public library? Does anyone know of a used book store in the Chicago area with very low standards? I guess there's Freecycle, but I'm kind of looking for an easy solution, and setting up appointments for random strangers to come to my house and paw through stuff doesn't qualify. If anyone local or who I'll be seeing in the next month or so is interested, I can post a list of titles in case there's anything you'd want.
