Drama Llama

A little while back I was looking for references to provide to an artist for a drawing of a centaur I'd commissioned. It's a long story involving a bad pun, I'll get back to that some other time. While searching the innertubes, I happened across this:

It's a print ad from 1976 for a brand of tequila called Pisco Llama, and yes, that appears to be a llamataur. It's an interesting ad, though I question whether it's an image I'd build a liquor campaign around-- I kind of think that when you start seeing llama monsters it might be time to consider cutting back on your tequila consumption. Nice image, anyway. I think it's his '70s porntastic mustache that sells it. My one complaint is that Mr. Pornstar Q. Llamataur is drawn with what look like proper hooves, when as a (semi)llama he should have padded two-toed feet like other camelids. It may seem nitpicky, but it's important. Camelids are ruminants, so if they had proper artiodactyl split hooves they would be kosher, and a lot more Jewish people would be sitting down to enjoy roast camel or alpaca soup tonight.

I like to think that Mr. Llamataur exists in the same fantastic and boozy world as the Rumple Minze bear cavalry. I suppose their patrols never take them as far south as the Andes, so we'll probably never know for sure.

centaurs, alcohol, what, advertising
