Summary: Hankyung is a transfer student in Korea for his final year of High School, after his roommate Siwon introduces him to his friends, and he befriends people of his own, he soon finds himself stuck in the middle of a conflict between two races that have been at each others throats for centuries.
Part: 27 of ?
Part 27.
The chessboard pattern tiles struck back with biting cold marble as Hankyung was thrown unceremoniously to the ground front first, his tear-shimmer clouded eyes barely able to focus on the large dome topped hallway, lined with elegantly engraved chalk-white columns and traditional, baroque style archways he had appeared in after Heechul had grabbed him and vanished into thin air, before he'd been sent crashing to the floor with a swift kick to the shins from the hissing red-head, the still bound Chinese male barely having enough time to turn his head as he fell in order for his cheek to bare the forefront of the fall instead of his nose.
“Shit.” At the almost inaudibly spat profanity from overhead, Hankyung felt his brows furrow slightly as Heechul stepped over him and proceeded to pace across the large room to slide down the curve of a pillar, the human finding himself smirking through the gag tied around his head and locked between his teeth despite the dangerous and depressing situation as the slender vampire twisted his spine until it cracked, the agony splashed visibly across his features, one hand remaining clamped over his neck which was still bleeding copious amounts of vampiric blood.
“Are you alright Hyung?” Kibum questioned almost gingerly as he paused mid-step over to Heechul, as if he'd thought better of being within grabbing range when asking such a volatile question for the elder male.
“Do I fucking look alright?!” Heechul snapped, eyes flaring blue for a moment before he seemed to catch himself and lowered his voice, seemingly not wanting to be overheard. “Fucking pure blood, fat eyebrowed, idiotic prick. Nearly broke my neck and spine.”
“Yeah...well...err...he's not going to be a problem any more.” Kibum stated gingerly, hands clutching to his own still pulsing stomach, internally checking to see just how many of his organs were damaged and wincing to himself at the extent, trying not to be too visibly disappointed at the fact Heechul hadn't questioned his well being in return for his concern.
The moment Kibum had finished talking, Hankyung felt his already constricted airways clenching tighter in despair, trying to ignore the nauseous wave that shivered through him as Heechul caught him staring at him and smirked in response, unable to glare in return as Kibum suddenly dragged him to his feet with a sharp jolt against his ribs, biting down into the material tied around his mouth at the distinct crack in his chest as a result, despite the clearly dangerous situation he was currently in, being held captive by two seemingly unstoppable vampires in some unknown location, Hankyung couldn't remove the image of the man he loved sprawled bleeding and lifeless across the grass from his vision, his soul steadily bleeding out of his through the gash in his temple as he almost resigned himself to the fact nobody would come save him now, it was his fault Siwon had even been there in the first place, it was because of him that all this had started and with their leader gone, Hankyung couldn't fathom a plausible enough reason why Kyuhyun and the others would risk even more lives just to save him.
“How did it feel?” Heechul smirked getting back to his own feet and strolling over, trying to remain walking normally despite the distinct spinal injury induced limp in his left leg. “How did it feel to watch him die? It's a shame you weren't up where I was...I had a fantastic view of his heart being torn to shreds with the force of the bullets, and then again when the back of his head was blown open an-”
Anything else Heechul had wanted to spit at the Chinese human was lost in his throat as Hankyung saw red, despite being bound and virtually powerless compared to the two vampires and had attempted to pull himself out of Kibum's grasp and dive at Heechul to head butt, kick out at or do anything that would stand a chance of causing the red-head pain and put an end to the heartbreaking words eating into his system, Hankyung barely realising he was screaming and swearing in rapid Chinese behind his gag until he was once again crashing to the floor as Kibum backhanded him with a sharp snarl of 'shut up you pathetic fuck' knuckles grazing across the wound in his temple causing a smarting pain to erupt through his head. However, Hankyung forgot the burning throb in his brain as he watched Kibum lick the blood off his knuckles before proceeding to choke and collapse to his knees in shock, Heechul swiftly moving across to slap him between the shoulder blades forcing the younger vampire to spit the mouthful of red out of his lips and across the once pristine floor.
“I-It burnt.” Kibum croaked as Heechul tugged him back to his feet by his hair with a demanding snarl, before Hankyung's eyes widened in shock as Heechul seemed to freeze and visible pale, if that was even possible, before turning calculating eyes towards the Chinese male's still sprawled form, the vague, confusing words that had little meaning to the human clearly having a more impacting effect on the increasingly powerful vampire.
“Burnt huh?” Heechul breathed, almost in a cat like purr before he knelt down next to Hankyung and pulled his head back with a sharp snap of his long dark blond locks, the Chinese male trying not to thrash in disgust and renewed panic as the elder male's fangs sunk into his throat, images flashing through his mind from his first attack at the hands of Siwon's uncle before they were gone just as swiftly as Heechul's head pulled back and dropped his own, the Vampire coughing and spluttering as he turned away fighting the urge to gag. “That fucking...” Heechul spat the moment he could use his voice once again, his sentence trailing off without a finish as his anger exploded and he screamed in frustration, kicking out at Kibum as he went.
“Hyung! Calm down!” Kibum hissed, clutching his overly abused chest in his still knelt position. “There's nothing we can do about it now is there?” he added in question, eyes flitting back to Hankyung, blatantly ignoring the confused quizzical sheen to the dark irises that frowned back at him.
“Calm down?! Kibum-ah...the little whelp is untouchable! He's useless now!” Heechul snarled resisting the urge to smack the vampire knelt in an almost foetal position looking distinctly sorry for himself as he continued to bleed out from his stomach, Hankyung wondering briefly whether it was actually life threatening before almost jolting in shock as Heechul dragged him back to his feet once again, pulling his head back to snarl into his face. “You've let him drink from you haven't you? Haven't you!?”
“Heechul-ah, please keep it down, some of us are trying to sleep.” At the sudden deep set of vocals from over in the corner of the previously empty room, Hankyung turned his head in shock at the sudden noise, momentarily thankful for a distraction to the soft memories of Siwon above him, fangs buried strangely lovingly in his neck, before he felt his knees buckle beneath him slightly as he found himself being leered and glared at respectively by Kangta and an even elder male who based on his facial composition and likeness to the male next to him, had to be Siwon's father, his short mass of ebony hair seeming out of place on the old, traditional outfit the man was clothed in, the sharp piercing eyes cushioning the large regal brows so alike his eldest sons the Chinese male felt his heart twinge in memory. “I see you brought me a present.” Kangta continued licking his lips slightly, ignoring the groan of protest from the male beside him.
“What's the news Heechul-ah.” Siwon's father snapped, causing the male in question to flinch and shuffle backwards slightly, before bowing low and glancing sidewards at Kibum before he spoke.
“Siwon is dead. By my own hand. The rest won't try anything without him...they may be stupidly blind and loyal to him, but they aren't idiots, they know they won't stand a chance.” Heechul stated, biting his lip as Kangta moved forward to take Hankyung from him, the Chinese male unable to prevent the tremble racking his system as the eyes flashed blue for a moment, all too like the encounter in the woods.
“What is it Heechul-ah?” Kangta questioned as he pulled Hankyung away from Heechul, the human trying not to pass out from hyperventilating as the pure blood nuzzled against his jugular and inhaled deeply, a low pleased growl vibrating through his throat as he did so.
“H-He's been imprinted.” Heechul stuttered, before Hankyung almost screamed in shock as Kangta snarled and within a swift movement, too fast for his basic eyes to see, wrapped his fingers around Heechul's throat and slammed him down into the flooring head first.
“HE'S WHAT!?!?!” Kangta roared, fingertips tightening around Heechul's throat until the red-head was turning the same colour as his hair as he choked, hands scrabbling for purchase in the elder's shirt in an attempt to push him off. “And just when did this happen?” the pure blood added in a low, dangerous hiss, loosening his grip so Heechul could speak, before giving up and storming back across to Hankyung when the young vampire did nothing but splutter in response.
Before Hankyung could do anything, Kangta had grabbed his chin between his thumb and forefinger and pushed his head back, deep sapphire irises burning into his own, unable to blink as the distinctly probing sensation of his memories being flicked through like a giant mental scrapbook rippled through his system before Kangta growled once more and snapped his hands away in annoyance.
“Well well...not only did you willingly let my nephew drink from you, you also seemed to have some fun in the process huh?” Kangta purred face sickeningly close to Hankyung's as he hissed. “Now, thanks to my nephew's annoyingly perceptive ways, no one but him can drink from you...and since he's little more then a buffet now, that means you're untouchable. Seems Siwon-ah thought something like this might happen.” the Vampire added causing Hankyung to gasp against the material between his teeth, heart thudding in some sign of hope as he finally understood what the Vampires had been going on about, how that time when he had slept with Siwon and allowed him to drink his blood, the pure blood had used his vampiric ability to it's full potential and intentionally imprinted his own DNA on Hankyung's skin, meaning if anyone else tried to drain him or drink from him, much like Kangta had done in the beginning, they would find themselves with a mouthful of unpleasant burning ash instead of the much craved blood.
“My son was better off dead if he was willing to give up his heritage for this...” At the hiss from Siwon's father suddenly from his other side, Hankyung was thrown out of his happy bubble that no one could ruin the cleansing memory of Siwon's gentle bite against his throat without discomfort, as harsh fingers tugged disgustedly at his long strands of hair, the Chinese male finding himself peering up into the face of the man who had ruined his partner's life, forced him to believe he had killed his own Mother and forced him to grow up too many years in advance and Hankyung felt the fear drain out of him to be replaced by something akin to pure unadulterated hatred. “Dispose of him Brother. I have no desire to see his face in my house.”
“Can't I keep him?” Kangta queried with a small uncharacteristic pout, causing all the fear that had drained out of the human to rush back in one swift wave along with an even stronger ripple of nausea as the large fingers wrapped around his arms slid down to trail over his hips and backside. “I might not be able to drink him...but I can still have some fun.” The vampire added, before Hankyung struggled and kicked out as Siwon's father nodded in agreement, the human soon screaming through the gag as Kangta dragged him away with a low cackle towards his rooms.
--------------------------------------------------
Ryeowook sighed heavily once more and hastily detached himself from Yesung's grip around his waist and shuffled across the plush carpeting of their shared bedroom to gingerly perch himself on the spare bed beside the curled up, scarily silent form of Kyuhyun, his blond hair hanging down over his face to his hide his eyes from view, the Pure Blood Vampire knowing full well they would be red rimmed and puffy from the amount of silent crying the Maknae had done.
“Kyu-yah?” Ryeowook whispered softly, ignoring the questioning looks from his mate across the room and the curious stares of Donghae and Eunhyuk, the rest of the wolf gang currently sat in the Kitchen area just beyond the doorway, despite their seemingly effortless truce whilst they'd attempted to save Hankyung, the two groups knew they were still awkward and unable to fully work together since the only two people who had connected them together were now likely dead. “Kyu-yah, do you want a drink? When was the last time you drank any blood?”
“Don't remember.” Kyuhyun croaked back a few minutes painful silence later, not removing his head from the crook of his arms.
“Kyu-yah, you need to drink something, especially if you need to recover from the injuries from earlier.” Ryeowook breathed, the Pure blood having easily slipped into the leading role, much to the surprise of the Wolf pack and his own partner. Siwon had always declared that should anything happen to him, then leadership would fall to Kyuhyun despite him being the youngest, however the blond Maknae was in no fit state to lead at that moment in time, so Ryeowook had taken over as the strongest remaining Vampire, his parental instincts dragging him across the room to the silent blond within minutes.
“Not hungry.” Kyuhyun stated in response, voice thick with some strange mixture of upset and sullen sulking.
“I know you're not, but how do you expect to survive if anyone attacks if you're in this state?” Ryeowook returned, tracing his incredibly slender fingers gently over the many lacerations littering Kyuhyun's body, his spare hand lifting to trace over the freshly healed curve of his throat where Yesung had drunk from barely an hour ago, it was against the laws to drink from a pure blood, the blood often turning black and thick in the veins, however Ryeowook had discovered through extensive research one year when Yesung had nearly died from not getting any blood, that if the Pure Blood offered it, then the transition was safe in small doses and didn't transfer any of the extra power into the lower vampires.
“Wookie-yah?” Yesung queried leaning forward on the bed, eyes harsh and demanding as he watched the two youngest curled up on the other bed, having quite liked holding Ryeowook against him to remind himself the little vampire was still alive.
“Sungie Hyung?” Ryeowook echoed, head tilting in confusion before anything else he'd been about to say was cut off as Kyuhyun suddenly turned, springing apart from his curled up shape to wrap his arms around the elder male's waist, head disappearing into Ryeowook's neck as he started to shale with the force of his repressed sobs. “It's alright Kyu-yah, Don't wo-”
Frowning as Ryeowook's words were suddenly cut off, Yesung was about to get to his feet before the little pure blood shuddered slightly in shock, his elder mate leaping to his feet mere moments later as the fresh scent of pure vampiric blood filled the atmosphere, Kyuhyun's hands tightening against Ryeowook's back in turn. Realising his partner was feeling remotely territorial and all but ready to rip Kyuhyun away from his throat with force and rip the very blood back out of his stomach, Ryeowook held a hand up and waved Yesung back into a seated position with his left hand, the right moving to stroke at the blond waves for a moment before tugging gently in sign for Kyuhyun to let go or risk hurting him.
“What the hell do you think you're doing!?” Yesung snarled as Kyuhyun relented at the tugging and moved back, almost shocked at his own actions, eyes blazing aqua, fanged rows of teeth and plump lips stained red as small remaining rivulets slid down his chin. “You idiot! He's a pure blood you could have killed him in one mouthful! Look at him! Any paler and he'll be see-through! We already have one dead pure blood on our minds we don't fucking need another one!”
“Sungie Hyung!” Ryeowook snapped ignoring the fact his mate had marched across and attempted to pull him back over to the other bed as he'd finished shouting at Kyuhyun, his words ringing around the walls and hanging thick in the air as they all shuddered at the memories from earlier that night.
“NO! Don't 'Sungie Hyung' me! He could of killed you! YOU! MY mate! He had no right to do that! Just because he was Siwon-ah's favourite doesn't give him the right to taint what's mine!” Yesung snarled, roaring forwards at the blond Maknae who was now staring openly shocked up at him, the eldest male unknown for losing his temper even when Ryeowook was concerned, instead choosing to gain revenge through surprisingly calm, collected clever tactics, the only thing stopping him from landing on Kyuhyun and beating the life out of him being Donghae and Eunhyuk's quick reactions to grab his arms and waist.
“STOP IT!” At the sudden scream from the doorway, the scrabbling group turned away from the anarchy amongst themselves before peering curiously at the fuming form of Leeteuk framed in the entranceway, eyes a bright gold as his hissed through the wolf jaws slinking through his natural teeth, the air crackling slightly as Eunhyuk instantly backed down and moved across to nuzzle at his Umma's side. “What the hell is wrong with you guys?! Siwon-ah is dead, Hankyung-ah is gone and being subjected to God only knows what and all you can do is sit here and argue over three mouthfuls of blood that the boy needed anyway!”
“It's my mate! He has no right! And he's a pure blood! It could have killed him!” Yesung snapped, not backing down and instead turning on Leeteuk, barely noticing the shifting shape of the werewolf's pupils as he merely repeated what he'd been saying for the past five minutes. “You wouldn't understand!”
“Wouldn't I? I wouldn't understand the idea of mates, claims and permissions? Do you think werewolves are any different Yesung-sshi? You don't think Kangin-ah would throw a fit if someone dared to come near me, his mate, the one he claimed and only lets permitted people near?” Leeteuk snapped in response, the retort laced with sarcasm and something remotely upset and reminiscent as if he were more affected by the Vampires last words then he let on. “I understand perfectly what your problem is Yesung-sshi...but what I'm saying is leave off. Kyuhyun-sshi doesn't want to claim Ryeowook-sshi. In case you haven't noticed he's too occupied mourning the only decent Father figure he remembers.”
“Teukie.” Hearing a soft growl from behind him, Leeteuk sighed before turning to watch as Kangin silently glared at him, hands gesturing rather violently for him to get away from the room and back to the kitchen area, something which Leeteuk did after a rather large sigh and distinct, pointed stare in a squirming Yesung's direction. “And you!” Kangin snapped stepping over the threshold and gesturing at Eunhyuk curled up form on the floor where he had retreated when Leeteuk had been speaking, his arms wrapped around a shivering Donghae's waist, head resting on the curve of his shoulder. “What the hell are you doing? Get out here right now, we're going back to our dorm.”
“WHAT?!” Eunhyuk shrieked, causing Donghae to clamp his hands over his ears in shock at the sudden pitch of the vocals, only for Kangin to spin on his heel confused at the rest of the voices behind him, frowning as he found Sungmin, Leeteuk, ZhouMi and Henry all staring wide eyed and disbelievingly at him, the eldest of the group looking almost scandalised beneath the long blond bangs, Shindong hanging back, not wanting to be separated from the group, yet not having a strong enough opinion on the matter to care.
“I said we are going back. This isn't our fight, I will not allow any more injuries or pain to you all. I don't care whether you want to or not, almost all of you have nearly died in the past three months I am laying down the law this instant.” Kangin snarled, eyes glittering dangerously as the cubs seemed to back down leaving him to try and face down Leeteuk. “Don't even think of disobeying me Leeteuk, I will not stand for it this time, I let you get away with everything normally but now you need to remember just who's in charge here.”
“Quite frankly...I don't give a shit.” Leeteuk snapped, shifting forward and rising to full height until he was nose tip to nose tip with the Alpha male, ignoring the wide eyed audience of Vampires as his cubs all gasped at the direct challenge on Kangin's authority. “I don't care if you're in charge, I refuse to sit back out of this and leave Hankyung-ah to whatever hell those foul creatures have got planned for him, you yourself agreed he was part of our pack! Would you abandon any of our cubs as easily?! What if it had been me? When they had Eunhyuk-ah you never once stopped looking for him! You even worked with Siwon-ah to find him...Yet you'd quite happily abandon Hankyung-ah?”
“He's not a wolf. I said he was like a pack member...not that he was a pack member, there's a difference.” Kangin hissed stepping forward so Leeteuk was naturally forced to retreat or be knocked over. “Now all of you, get back to the dorm.”
“No.” Eunhyuk stated, throwing himself back onto the floor and curling up beside Donghae once more, Kangin barely able to growl in frustration at the insolence of his cub before his eyes widened in shock as Sungmin pushed past him and joined the pair on the floor, the same determined disobeying gleam in his irises to match his Umma's and dongsaeng's.
“If you don't get back up and out to the dormitory within the next minute you can find yourself another pack.” Kangin barked, voice turning scarily feral as he fought against the natural tug of the wolf so close to a full moon.
“Well, if that's the way you're going to be then fine.” Leeteuk hissed, the whole group wincing at the distinct weary dull to the alpha female's eyes before he pushed past himself and stood in the centre of the room, ZhouMi and Henry following him moments later leaving the leader alone with Shindong on the doorstep. “How about you find yourself a new pack, I'm staying, we need to try and get Hannie-yah back and from the looks of it my babies agree with me...you can either join us or stay out of our lives from now on.” the eldest male stated, arms crossing defiantly across his chest as Kangin stared in disbelief for a few moments before turning on his heel with a short growled 'fine' and disappeared from the room and down the stairs, Shindong hovering for a moment before grimacing almost sympathetically and followed after Kangin, Leeteuk collapsing to the floor the second the two wolves burst from the dormitory and out into the open grounds, Kangin's yells and growls still audible from the room.
“I guess this means we're working together...” Ryeowook muttered before getting up and holding out a hand to Leeteuk still on the floor. “Hi...I'm Kim Ryeowook. I think a new beginning is in order.”
