You know you're a geology geek when...

Sometime in the wee dark hours of the morning, I was jolted awake by an earthquake. It didn't last too long, fortunately; by the time I made it to the bathroom door and braced myself, it stopped. Waited a few minutes for an aftershock, decided to go back to bed (under which Cat and Schmat were no doubt cowering). As I drifted off to sleep, I pondered the magnitude of the quake. Enough to wake me up and give me a good jolt, maybe a knickknack or two got shaken off of shelves, not enough to make the ceiling fan creak ominously or crack any windows. Hmm... bet it's a 4, maybe 4.5, fairly close. Zzzzzzz.

Small Quake Rattles Valley

4.5, epicenter near Chatsworth. I called it! Hee.
