Day 3-- Touring Luberon, mountain range in the Provence

Sep 02, 2009 18:20

We got up early in Venasque and started our first day as fiancees together in Southern France. We had a beautiful breakfast with homemade jam and fresh croissants. The coffee was excellent too. We then toured around Venasque, Gordes, Roussillon, a small lavender farm, Bonnieux, Saignon and Apt. These were all very pretty villages. My favorite was Roussillon that produced golden colored paint, ocher. The scenery there was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I wore white pants which became reddish after touring Roussillon. I had a lot of fun that day. I kept looking at my ring the whole time. I have to say Tim's friends were right in saying "How can she say no to that?!"

We had dinner at Aix en Provence, at a random restaurant. The food was good but not as quite good as we had previously =). I had the famous fish soup, bourride, renowned for the region, except it was "tad bit" garlic heavy. Apparently, it was so bad, Tim refused to kiss me in the evening and made funny faces whenever he was close to me. That was the downside, especially for the day after we got engaged =). On the other hand, we were exhausted since we had to drive to Sophia Antipolis at night, so we could stay at the same hotel as the one 5 years ago where we stayed for Tim's graduation. We arrived at around 1am, exhausted, but very happy.
