Currently Listening To: the Amelie Soundtrack
This may be a last official entry for this journal. By the first week of January, I will be using
snappinshutters.
My mom decided it was not the best time for Dan and I to visit her (which I sorta understand because she and Alan are trying to get the house they are building finished, but I was disappointed), so we had to go to my family's Christmas party. I swear, if I have to listen to Tony Bennett's Christmas album one more time... *shudders* We were at the adult table this year and Dan was actually invited to dinner! Amazing!
Dan and I exchanged gifts. I got two CDs (the Amelie soundtrack and Fade to Bluegrass, a Metallica tribute album), the first DVD of the Bleach series, and a iPod stereo system.
I don't know what it is, but I was so difficult to shop for this year. I'm to that point where I don't want trinkets (because that's just more stuff I would need to haul later on). Any practical things that I would like for my photo career is nice, but I can't ask EVERYONE for that, you know? I would get like 4 new sets of lighting equipment when all I need is one. Or they would get stuff that I wouldn't need specifically. That's why I'm asking for money to buy the stuff that I need like lighting equipment and stuff for my photo series right now and for future ones.
I watched "Videodrome" with Dan...and I actually UNDERSTOOD it. Is that weird? I didn't think about that movie for my cyborg series, but I'm glad that I did get that for one of Dan's gifts. I didn't realize that McLuhan's Understanding Media is another good source for my photo series that I didn't even consider.
Been watching Heroes, which is awesome. Making gifts for a few of my extended family. I've got one more gift to make and then I'm officially done.
Karen hurt her knee the other day playing tennis. She has a brace and a pair of crutches. She's going to find out through an MRI tonight. Not too good timing 'specially with our traveling on Saturday. I've had to help around with the family stuff like taking Katie to the bus stop and letting in the maids on Wednesday. I had to be awake at 7am. Ugh. I guess that's practice for getting up early on Saturday.
You know what I'm tired of? Christmas songs. Everywhere that I've been going to look for last minute gifts has Christmas songs playing all of the time. I think the only Christmas songs that I like are done by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (especially "Carol of the Bells"). My least favorites are any pop stars like Jessica Simpson or something doing "O Holy Night". It's quite awful and it needs to stop.
That and Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell need to duke it out in the Thunderdome or something. Eradicate one of those fuckers.
But here is some holiday spirit for you.
Happy holidays everyone.
