I don't usually "blog" on this journal... or any other online journal for that matter. But I'll make a special exception today. I'm loving Romania. I could see myself living here if not for the fact my wage would probably get slashed to pieces. Bucharest is very "homely" so to speak. It's very tight-nit, the people are extremely friendly and the city is beautiful. There are abandoned buildings that are falling apart with stray dogs and cats wondering about and right across the street, there is a brand new luxurious building with all the fixings. It's beautiful in it's own sense. The streets here are insane - I've never seen so many careless drivers in my life. The traffic signs/street signs are very subtle - so if you are driving here and aren't familiar with the city, consider yourself an accident waiting to happen. The food here is "special"; it's been very hit or miss with me. I've had some of the worst pizza I've ever tasted - they use KETCHUP (instead of tomato sauce) and place it on TOP of the cheese. This is done AFTER the pizza is baked. On the other hand, some of the traditional foods - sarmale (?) is very good. One thing I can't get over is the fondness for sour cream on every food. They put sour cream in all their soups. The currency is also baffling, there are 3 major accepted currencies here - the Lei, the Ron, and the Euro. Ordering from a restaurant is equally confusing, they list the items in terms of grams for that serving - many times you have to order multiple servings for it to equal one realistic portion. The currency itself is a little unusual, the smaller the denomination - the smaller the bill. The 1 Lei bill is like monopoly money. The women here are extremely beautiful. Walking down the street, you'll encounter at least 10 women that could be super models. Which is awesome, because it means the males odds for scoring with an attractive girl greatly increases.

I've been extremely busy with work, so I haven't explored the city as much as I would have liked to. Hopefully that'll change this weekend.
