Chapter 5:
Their first anniversary was not spent together as the nature of their jobs did not give them the opportunity to. Both were disappointed but they knew there was nothing they could do.
"Hyun, happy anniversary! Does my girlfriend miss me?" Yong Hwa asks as he calls her at night immediately after his schedule ends for the day.
"Oppa, happy anniversary! I miss you too! How did the concert go? Sorry I could not be there." She tells him.
"It was great! The boys and I had a blast as usual. We also have of the other groups there like 2AM, FT Island and also KARA but I really wish you were there in the front row rather than in Japan right now." He says as his voice gets softer and filled with longing for her.
"Hmmm, it cannot be helped I guess. However, we can continue wishing that we could celebrate our birthdays together. Oh? KARA was there? I thought Nicole told me they may have something on at the same time as your concert?"
"Yes, we can continue to wish really hard for the next 1 ½ months, Hyunnie. Well, I am not sure about that but they came back stage after the concert to congratulate us. How was SM Town Japan?”
Always the eternal optimist she is, it would be a great birthday present if they are able to spend it together. He smiles to himself as he leans back on his bed and playing with his couple ring that he keeps in his jewellery box.
"Hmmm, it was great! The fans were really warm. My unnies and I had a great time shopping as well. I bought you a little something. You can call it a super early birthday gift." She giggles but the at the back of her mind, she reminds herself to give Nicole a call later.
"Really?! I cannot wait to see it, Hyun. I caught some of the fancams online of the concert. Do you really need to dance so seductively with Minho? He looks like one happy guy." He says, unable to stop himself from seeing green.
"Eh, oppa. It is just a dance routine. Hyoyeon and Victoria Unnie were in the same performance too. You are overreacting here." She explains.
"Yes, I know but they are but they are not paired with their personal fanboy. We all know Minho has always been one of your many admirers."
"Then why don't CN Blue signs with SM Entertainment? In that way we can meet each other more often and we can even perform together." She adds jokingly.
"Seo Joo Hyun!"
"Ahrasso, oppa! I will be more aware around my brothers in the company ok? I will make sure I do not get to close to them. Can my boyfriend have a peace of mind now? He must know that I don't care about the rest of the guys except him right?" She tells in a voice dripping with aegyo.
He lets out a chuckle, she always knows what to say and how to say that makes him give in to her all the time. They chatted for a while more before she tells him that she needs to hang up the call but not before telling him again the she misses him and will call him again
It has been a year already, he thinks to himself. It is amazing to him how even though how they are not able to meet each other often but they still manage to grow closer and more comfortable as a couple. Taking one of their couple photos, he gently traces her face with his index finger. He misses her so much. As he lies down to sleep, he wishes that she is beside him right now.

The months of wishing paid off, as they are able to spend their birthdays together. Both of their members all got together to plan a double celebration for the both of them and inviting their friends to the party. They made sure they pulled out all the stops to throw a party they will not forget.
The party was in full swing and everyone was just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Suddenly, Hyun felt a familiar pair of hands grabbing her and pulling her along towards the door.
“Yong oppa, where are you taking me?” She asks curiously as she follows he lead, heading out of SNSD's dorm.
“I am giving you your birthday gift but first you need to go somewhere with me.” He adds mysteriously, making her question what does he have under his sleeves.
She had given him his gift that she has bought on her trip to Japan. It was a star shaped necklace that she has found in Tiffany & Co. when she was shopping with her sisters. The design was really unique that with one look both she and Sooyoung unnie agreed would make a great gift for Yong Hwa.
Yong really loved it since he immediately put it on before leaning over to kiss her tenderly on the lips, making everyone in the dorm cheering loudly and she blushing furiously. Now as she follows him to his car, she cannot help but wonder what is his gift.
“Don't be impatient, Hyunnie. You will see when we get there.” He tells her as he opens the passenger door for her to get in before going over to the driver's side to start the ignition.
“This route is awfully familiar. Ah! I remember. Are we going to our couple house during our stint in We Got Married? I recognize the route. Yes! This is the slope that we use to race up so many times. Why are we here? The loft we used to use for filming is rented out after we ended our lease isn't it?” She suddenly points to the all to familiar route, getting more and more curious by the second.
“You will see in a short while.” He says as he reaches over to unbuckle her safety belt before getting out to open the door for her. As usual, they race up the slope aagain like how they used to do. They reach the all too familiar white picket fence panting slightly from the run. The house looks dark as though no one lives there anymore.
“Where is the landlady and why is the whole place dark?” She asks, looking around. It did not change over the last year; everything still looks the same as the wave of memories hit her.
“The landlady was looking to sell the whole place and she gave me a call to see if I was interested since she recalls that both of us fell in love with the place. I took the chance to make the arrangements and bought the place. It is my gift to you, Hyunnie. Happy birthday.” He explains, crossing to her to give her a back hug before taking her hand to lead her up to the second floor.
Everything still looks the same as how she remembered as she steps in to the space that she and Yong created so many memories. The yellow couch, the kitchen design and even the bedroom looks the same. Her eyes watered a little as the wave of nostalgia hits her.
“I still cannot believe that you bought the place.” She tells him as she brushes a hand over the neck pillows she got for them during their trip to see the sunset. Unable to control her emotions, she moves towards him to hug him tightly, burying her head in the crook of his neck.
“I love you, Hyunnie.” He murmurs into her hair.
“I love you too, Yong.”
His arms encircle her waist and he kisses the crown of her head before lifting her chin so that he is able to kiss her on the lips. He was relieved that she love the surprise he got for her. He enlisted the help of her sisters to get Hyunnie's things to the house so that he and his members could arrange the items for her present.
He gently backs her towards the bed as their kisses got more urgent and filled up pent up longing one another. They broke apart shortly as he gently lay her down on the bed. Feeling bold, she pulls his head down for a kiss and her hands began to roam over his back before snaking around his neck.
Feeling a little shock by her actions, he reciprocated, slowly and carefully tracing her waist and hips before moving to the small of her back. He pulls away to kiss her eyes and cheeks then giving her small nibbling kisses down her neck before lovingly giving her faint bite on her shoulder.
Before things could get out of hand, he pulls away and tucks her head on his shoulder, fingers lightly brushing the mark on her shoulder and together they both fell asleep, spending a night at their couple home.
