twilight

i finished the twilight series a couple weeks ago. i was actually expecting to become obsessed with them like everyone else. i started off with the intention of forming an opinion them so i could actually be included in the discussions about them. and that's what happened, nothing more surprisingly. the first book was basically a waste of my life but they got better as i grew to know the characters. i really don't like bella. she doesn't strike me as a very independent person and she never thinks about herself. her whining annoys me. i'm not very attracted to edward. i don't like my man's lips cold. or his hands. i'm definitely a jacob girl. but i also think jacob is too immature for bella because she seems like she has a stick up her ass. also, stephanie meyer's writing annoys me at times. she gave way too many details in the first book and it became very repetitive to me. however, her last book completely contrasts the first in this sense. the fight scene at the end of the last book was horrible. it wasn't even a fight. she builds everything up to make the reader nervous like all these main characters are gonna die and instead a bunch of vampires and werewolves sit around and have a discussion. like really? ugh it was really aggravating to me. also, bella annoys me when she doesn't tell them that she really was going through a lot of pain when she turns into a vampire. i think there should be another book. also, i thought it was bad writing when the half vampire/half human shows up in the end when the reader is made to believe that Renesmene is the first human vampire. it was much too convenient. i will give Meyer credit for selling so many books. obviously she's doing something right. either that or people really don't have good taste in books anymore. but i did want to continue to read the books. i'm not sure if it was because i was waiting for something really good to happen or if they were actually a good read.
overall, i was impressed by her ability to keep the reader intrigued. but other than that i found it to be typical teenage romance. which isn't necessarily a bad thing. if you like happy endings then read it.
