I'm thinking of learning Spanish, but I'm not sure how well that would go given the level of proficiency I have in other languages. I'm an Italian major who has been studying German, too, for years. I am a native AmE speaker studying abroad in Spain for a year. I live with a host family and have a Spanish boyfriend, and during the year I've gained fairly solid fluency in the language. My host mom and host sisters speak very good English, as do my boyfriend and his friends, but we tend to speak Spanish and Basque because it's generally good ( Read more... )

Does anyone know of a website that lists study abroad programs in Japan for the summer? Or of any particularly good ones? Bonus points if it's a)cheap or b)has financial aid.

I'm looking into going to university in Spain, and was researching schools in the Catalonia and Barcelona area, as I've heard some great things about the region. Would this be completely counterproductive to me mastering Spanish, as in would I be surrounded by 100% Catalan?
