FRENCH: angoisse primale/primaire

What is the difference between angoisse primale and angoisse primaire, if any? I am looking for a word to describe this kind of fear that is common for most of the people, like fear of darkness, of the unknown, of strangers, of a forest, of being alone, etc. that supposedly originated when the human race was very young ( Read more... )

Basically you can use both, for the same feeling; Primaire or Primal is the same thing, the same word, it's something related to the mammal in us, a kind of run-for-your-life feeling.
The equivalent for peur would be fear indeed and for angoisse I used to translate it by angst, it's like a cold sweat running along your spine...very linked to this "peur primale" we're talking about.
