I don't know the answer, but what kind of language is this? I saw similar letters at old soviet banknotes where all official languages of Soviet Republics were represented. Is it Georgian or some language from Middle Asia?
I don't think it can be Devanagari, because it doesn't have the horizontal bars at the top. But it looks like it might be one of the other scripts that evolved out of Devanagari; the letter forms are rather similar.
I think it's upside down Gujarati. Most Devanagari does have the horizontal bar at the top, but Gujarati doesn't. Unfortunately, I can't read Gujarati, so I don't know what it says.
Would you be so kind to turn the picture upside down, because that is correct orientation for this text. It's definitely one of Indian alphabets (and languages), but I can't understand which one because the text looks meaningless for me anyway.
