So there's a
discussion in Language Log about the conspicuous dearth of recent loanwords from Chinese into English, which has prompted the question, "How common are recent loanwords from any language in contemporary English?" I don't have a good answer to that question, but it did get me thinking about what words might qualify.
So what are some examples which come to mind? (For the purposes of this question, let's assume that "loanword" means "a word used and understood by people who do not speak the language it originated from" and "recent" means "became current within your lifetime".)
