One of my sons (3 years old) was recently telling his brother that the battery in his camera ran out.
As he spoke, he did a little "fingers running" hand gesture, suggesting that the battery had physically fled the camera. It struck me that this is very different from Russian, where you say that the battery "села", or "sat down", and I became curious about the literal translation of the expression from other languages.
I understand that in Japanese you say that the battery has been "cut", as if with a sword.
How about other languages?
