I've heard that dolphins have been successful with helping autistic children-maybe there is something valid to animals helping humans with speech? idk, the article was pretty brief, so I can't say much.

I'm not sure if it's actually amazing that "parrots taught him to speak," rather than it's just quite apparent that his doctors didn't try very hard.

Yes.

Probably he recovered naturally. As part of that he was stimilated by hearing his parrots talk. He was also probably stimulated by hearing talk oin radio, TV, from other people, and so on.

However "Man recovers speach - listening to the radio helped him a lot" isn't as good a headline.

I thought that too -- but it wouldn't have been as cool of an article if the headline had been "Animal Hoarder Claims Birds Taught Him To Speak."
