Is midget bleep-worthy?

On MTV there is this show called Parental Control where parents attempt to replace their child's boy/girlfriend with someone else whom they think is better. They do this by having their child go on a date with these replacements. In one episode earlier this week, one of the dates said "how about your *BLEEP* boyfriend?" I thought he said muthafuckin' but the girl didn't seem that offended and then they proceeded to talk about his height, the girl said "he isn't that short" or something to that effect. The word was said again twice more, and was bleeped each time. I came to realize that the word was "midget."

Now, this was kind of odd. I did not know midget was that offensive to be bleeped. Now, I know that midget is no longer the word of choice by short people, who prefer to call themselves by the PC terms dwarves or little people or whatever.
