Confusion.

*sigh*

I feel like an idiot, but I am a mere second-level Russian student. I am nowhere near fluent or able to understand half the Russian I read.

Can someone fluent in Russian please tell me what this (00xyecoc_list) is? He/She/They keep adding me and taking me off... And I can't really read what the info or posts say to any great understanding. =;_;= Is ( Read more... )

You are being called a scrofulous cocksucker. Sporadically.

Yes... I'm being told it's a serial adding bot man or something. Frustrating.

The name itself should ring a bell, if you try reading it as russian. See here: http://xpeh.ru/words/179/. Fourth word in the list, for example.

It's a program which constantly adds and drops many Russian journals as well. There is nothing in it, just some weird guy.
Don't pay attention. Anyway, you can always ban him.

This is a bot, there is no person behind the curtain doing it. The operating principle of it is to sit and watch the list of latest postings in LJ (there is a feed of that) and to friend every poster who has Russian letters in the post or the profile. The newest push out the oldest (due to the limit of 750 friends). This was apparently done to test how many friends it can get, since many have a habit of friending back without looking.

Go to the console (http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/) and type in the window:
ban_set 00xyecoc_list
and execute the command. After this, any addings and deletions of this journal will not be reflected on your "friend of" list.

People friend others back without looking?

They certainly appear to, yes. See, for example, another one of these bots, which came into existence a little earlier:
http://alkagoliki.livejournal.com/profile
There are no entries in this journal; it operates on the same principles as above. It now has in excess of 4000 friends.

I mean, it is a friend of 4000+.
