Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me. Under what context would the OE class 2 weak vb Ðafian become Ðafigan?

I can only find a short mention of it in my OE Grammar which says:
Class 2 lacks i-mutation. Wherever you find gemination in class 1 verbs with short root syllables, you will find an element spelled -i- or -ig- after the root syllable of the class 2 verb.

But this doesn't tell my why Ðafigan would appear. None of the verb tables I have show any epenthetic consonants...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Kate
