Wedding Eve

Today was an awesome day! broodingfool and I went to see a coworker/notary public to fill out the marriage certificate. We had to sign three copies of the thing. Remind me never to get married in South Carolina again. It took FOREVER. So we are now technically married. The pomp and circumstance will happen tomorrow, and that will make it official in all the really important ways. I am really so, so very happy.

After the meeting with the notary, we met up with broodingfool's mom (Lynne), the best man (Erik), and his wife (Dawn), and briefly my parents and grandma downtown. Lynne went with my family to drive around and take pictures, and the rest of us hung around downtown, visited the local winery for a tasting, got a light lunch, and went to a local bar and grill, Luther's Rare and Well Done, for some beers. Later we met up with kendokamel and teiwazfinal at Bricks, another local watering hole/restaurant, to await the rest of the crew and have dinner and more drinks.

At dinner there was a total of eleven (!!!) of us: me, broodingfool, kendokamel, teiwazfinal, Lynne, Erik, Mom, Dad, Grandma, and our family friends Dottie and Al. After some musical chairs and annoyance on the part of the restaurant staff (despite me telling them an hour before that we would have nine - I didn't know about Dottie and Al), we got ourselves seated all together. And the awesome part was, everyone got along so well! Everyone was telling stories, or listening to stories, or asking each other questions and getting to know each other. It was so amazing - we spent a good three hours there just shooting the shit. The guy who ended up waiting on us was great. I'm confident my dad tipped very generously.

Apparently my family and Lynne had a really great time. After pictures, they went back to the hotel and shared some scotch. I think Lynne is going to be my dad's new drinking buddy when she's in the country. "A woman after my own heart," he said as Mom theatrically rolled her eyes. Heh.

So tomorrow! The wedding! Between Dad and Lynne, every moment will be captured in pixels, so I'm sure we'll have tons of pictures to share with you. Food and cake are ordered, outfits chosen, decorations put together, drinks decided upon (more or less), and the apartment complex's event room cleaned, and playlist set. Tomorrow we need to pick up the cake and buy drinks, and make sure the room's arranged for optimal fun. I think we're ready!

And I'm ready for bed! Ta!

a day in the life, frost, squee, wedding 2.0, made of win, happy, sappy, doing it right, love, family, final countdown, friendship
