This is Stellaris. If anyone is con wondering, I have awoken. The number of pages that had filled up since the last one I read is quite an austere surprise. It must have been weeks

[If Lyle can help it, she won't have to wait long. When the door to their flat opens he's breathing a bit heavily, an indication of what a rush he was in to get there.]
[His own relief is evident in the tension releasing laugh that reverberates through him as he returns the embrace. The sand is actually a welcome addition--so many people are coming back now that Lyle almost doesn't trust it. Feeling the little granules brush against his fingers is confirmation that she came back the normal way (as far as 'normal' had any business being associated with Sphere shenanigans) rather than being brought back by something fishy.
Eventually, he pulls back long enough to say:] G'morning, Sleeping Beauty. [Then he leans in for a kiss for good measure.]
[In stark contrast to the dream she just had, life is in the warmth that spreads when she presses against him, the rise and fall of his palpitation, the wave of his laugh that travels down her skin and the way time still stops when he kisses her like that. The dream isn't hers; she knew the pattern by now. Yet, it is unsettling all the while, both upon realising whose it was and realising the feel of searing pain at the end was not entirely unfamiliar.
But for now, time stops.]
And what does that make you, Sprinting Handsome?
[This one didn't grow up dreaming of Prince Charming.]
[He had taken to playfully brushing her slightly sandy hair back when her comment about sprinting made him realize his own was sticking to the perspiration on his forehead. Oh the joys of July.]
Hah, something like that. [Despite being familiar with the fairytale, he wasn't about to lay claim to any princely qualities, so that title suited him just fine.]
So how're you feeling? I know what it's like to wake up after a few days of that, but after three weeks I wouldn't be surprised if you've got a few cricks and cramps to contend with.
[Quicklog]--Eheh, sorry for the accidental pony reply. ^^;live_ringerJuly 13 2011, 03:06:35 UTC
Mm. [He started rubbing lazy circles on her back.] It's good to know you're not worse for wear, at least.
[Lyle almost offered to start into catching her up on what she missed, but the fact that she rested her head on him tipped him off to the fact that it was better to just take things slow. He had no problem with that, content as he was to just hold her for now.]
[Closing her eyes, she relished in the feel of his hand at her back, but not too long until she raised her head again, hands still linked behind his waist.]
Me? Doing a lot better now. [Said with a grin as he gave her a little squeeze for emphasis. He had been more prone to morose moods in her absence, but saying as much would just ruin the mood, and besides, the point was moot now that she was back.]
Though things have been pretty chaotic, lately, even by the standards of this place. It seems like everyone and their brother is coming back, and I mean that literally. Lockon actually stopped by here yesterday.
[He was still reeling from that surprise, though not necessarily in a bad way. Unfortunately, the rest of the news wasn't so pleasant.] ...There have also been a couple of deaths. Sniper among them, I'm sad to say.
[Meaning that if they didn't want to move by means of comical crab walk, they would have to disengage. Lyle stepped back in order to pull a chair out from the table, then sank down with a sigh.]
I'm not exactly sure what happened. One moment he was sketching the Tree's roots in the journal, talking about how they didn't look right and there was electricity running through them. Next thing I know, Hawk's announcing that he died. Since he was there at the scene, he'd probably know more about the circumstances than I would.
[Lyle shook his head. Chances are, whatever actually happened to the kid wasn't pretty.]
As for Lockon, yeah, memories and all. Hell, he was even wearing the exact thing I saw him in when he disappeared. Like he was plucked out of that moment and stuck in the future. [He ran a hand through his hair.] It's nice that there's no ground lost, per se, but it's... strange to say the least.
[As glad as he was to see his brother alive and well, especially knowing he wasn't so at
( ... )
[Stellaris was almost loathe to let go, despite realising how impractical that thread of thought was. She still followed and pulled a chair for herself to sit on.]
Hawk didn't mention anything... but it isn't something he'd say over the journals, I think. I suppose I'd learn more once I read the missed pages.
[Hawk's writings just now were all banter and good news. No doubt he-and her other close ones, apparently-was being considerate.]
Wearing... Lyle, are you saying Lockon wasn't rehatched from a cocoon?
[Sensing Stellaris' hesitation to let go and possessing some himself, Lyle reached out to rest a hand on her knee once she sat down. It wasn't as satisfying as the abandoned embrace, but it was still physical contact, which was a comfort after the extended absence of it.
Lyle nodded at the assessment that Hawk might not want to speak of the death over the journals.]
That and you had just woken up. People are going to want to say their hellos first.
[Truth be told, he felt a little dubious about bringing up the subject this soon after she had gotten back. Still, he figured it was better than being taken by surprise in an out-of-context moment.
Her assessment about Neil got a noise of assent.] That's about the size of it. In fact, it looks like the majority of the new arrivals we've been getting weren't hatched.
Mm. [She nodded and laid a hand on his on her knee, grateful of the contact.] Plenty of things happening by the time I got sanded was out of the pattern. More and more I feel a big change is underway. ...Not that I'm not happy you get to meet your brother again.
I am right now, but give me a second and I'll be in the elevator. I just have to let know Bridge I'm taking my lunch early.

No words now, just a breath of relief and a big, not entirely sand-free, hug.]

[Not feeling like letting go yet, she rested her temple by his collar.]
Not much different from waking up after a day's oversleeping, actually. The disorientation is there, but not what I would expect after that long.

[Her jaw dropped in surprise at the news.] ...Lockon? You mean with memory?
[And perhaps it was for the better the surprises came in a row.] Sniper?! What happened? Oh, perhaps we better sit down...
