brace yourself, something long is coming...
It's been an ass long time since I've written. Just a couple of things that I want to mention two things first:
-Brad Renfro is dead. OMG I was shocked to read that in People at the dentist's office today. Huck from Tom and Huck?! This is so sad, I had such a crush on him as a 12 year old, about as much as Mimisiku aka Sam Huntington. It's such a pity, it was heroin overdose.
-Counting Crows. I started listening to them like crazy, and it's gotten me back into listening to my iPod while biking. The music is just so classic small-town America. When I hear it, it takes me back to Tucson, walking the streets, young and without worries, under the Arizona sky. It makes me feel like I'm on a front porch in some small town (Omaha?) just feeling wind in face and hearing crickets chirping. It makes me think I'm driving on a road trip with the windows down. Makes me think of things like Dancer, Texas, Pop. 81 (Ethan Embry movie), Dawson's Creek, etc. It's something about the beautiful melodies, simple instrumentals, and the honesty of Adam Duritz's voice. Amazing. Some of those melodies just melt me inside - "I wish this weather would never leave" (Miami), "When you wake, the morning covers you in light" (Hard Candy), and songs like American Girls, Omaha, etc. They just put me totally at ease.
