Since this blog was supposed to be my "anime" blog, and I haven't really been watching anime recently, I haven't been updating here. >.<
My attention has been captured by TV shows - Glee, Castle, and Sex and the City mostly. I'll post a real writeup for these later, but suffice to say that Castle has Nathan Fillion, and has not been canceled (yet? hope not!), so his "curse" might be over! :) Watch it if you can (new eps are on Hulu.com).
I've stopped watching the Bleach anime for now because of the interminable fillers, so until that picks up again, I'll maintain this detached manga-only participation level. I'm surprised I'm still not getting tired of Bleach yet, because I've definitely got Naruto fatigue to the point that I've forgotten entire characters and back histories. :D
The big thing recently in Bleach fandom has been the giant plagiarism scandal regarding Nick Simmons' comic, Incarnate. The community I lurk on (and occasionally anon-post in),
Bleachness, was not where the news broke, but where it took off. They've been linked to a whole bunch of industry news sites like ANN and even legit news like CNN and now the
New York Times ArtsBeat blog. Wow.
I find it quite ironic that Bleachness is being cited as some sort of general Bleach fan community, when there was a huge debate nearly a month ago over whether or not new members understood that Bleachness really was just someone's personal fanworks comm a few years back that somehow expanded from there. Right when everyone made it clear that Bleachness isn't a neutral general fan community, it was introduced to the world at large as something like one. >.<
Although fandom can be kind of frustrating sometimes (hence my reluctance to join comms with this LJ), forums like NarutoFan, Bleach Asylum, and GameFaqs, along with the Bleachness community, played a big role in organizing a coordinated protest to both Incarnate and Bleach's publishers. This led to Radical's decision to stop publishing Incarnate immediately, but the story only drags on ... Simmons claims he was only "inspired"... bah! I say we keep this ruckus up until a real lawsuit or something emerges.
