What am I supposed to do on Sunday evenings without Code Geass to occupy my mind? After such an intense anime, going back to watch crack like Gintama or lighter shonen fare like Bleach just doesn't seem to scratch that itch. As much as I know it would probably be a trainwreck, a Season 3 for Code Geass doesn't sound as bad as it used to....
I couldn't help but ROFL at
this Newtype poll's results. Totally stunned that a show as messed up as Persona ~ Trinity Soul ~ could outrank Haruhi, Gintama, and Bleach (all of which I've watched), and I'm saying this as someone who liked Persona enough to keep watching it til ep 22 (after Shinsen stopped subbing it at ep 7 out of disgust, too). Honestly speaking, the plot was thinner than single-ply toilet paper, angsty to the nth degree, and rather unsatisfying. To date I haven't gotten around to watching the ending for reals. (Those last few episodes can join the ending of the Bount filler arc of Bleach in my "only watch if nothing else is left" list.)
One could argue that the "mecha" aspect of Persona battles appealed to Newtype's constituency, but even though the fights were done quite well, they were so short and sparse that watching it "for the fights" doesn't seem likely to me. You could also argue that crazed Persona game fans were the ones voting it up, but the show and the game couldn't have been more divergent, and a lot of gamers were actually upset at that. I'm mystified as to how it managed to rank 6th, one place behind Evangelion, which it seemed to be shamelessly emulating at times.
EDIT: Besides the Lancelot ignition key USB drive (I swear they designed it with that in mind), there's going to be
a Gintama USB drive as well. Haven't found pics yet, but just imagining plugging Elizabeth into my laptop is LOL.
