Not as wtf-inducing as last week, but still maddening due to unanswered questions. And of course, massive spoilers. Very fragmented since the ep itself was all little bits and snippets and unresolved matters.
1) Kickass chicks.
YES! KALLEN! My god, I was waiting for her to beat some sense into Suzaku since last week. Okay, so Suzaku didn't fight back out of guilt, or perhaps a chivalrous notion of not hitting women (but drugging them is okay? ... durr), and I do like him, but from the way she was pounding him, it looks like he couldn't have fought back if he wanted to. Kallen, you kick ass. <3
Anya. I didn't like her before (cold triggerhappy compulsive blogger girl), but now that we know there's a good reason she's been keeping a blog since forever, I'm actually a little proud of her. She must suspect Charles already, and her blogging is her way of maintaining her own grip on reality. I'm surprised Charles let Suzaku remember the existence of his Geass, knowing that he could easily explain Anya's memory problems with that. Either he threatened Suzaku with his own little brainwashing session or it's a Sunrise plothole.
2) C.C. version 0.0 rollback notes.
If there's any truly enduring Geass ship, it's C.C. x pizza. Even full on memory loss cannot come between them! Lelouch isn't helping - she finally broke her addiction to the stuff and now he introduces her drug to her again? Of course, the immortal C.C. would never have saved a slice for Lelouch no matter how hungry he was. "Get your own, Zero. Or would you have to Geass someone for it?" etc etc.
And how the hell would Lelouch have forgotten that this new C.C. doesn't know when he's being sarcastic? He really needs to stop giving mock commands, or, as someone on the LJ comm mentioned, he's going to create another "EUPHINATOR." I swear Sunrise put that in just for the stripping!C.C. fanservice. *mutters*
The (mild) C.C. x Lelouch shipper in me is amused that Sunrise has the OotBK take the C.C.-Lelouch relationship for granted. Asahina suggested she was pregnant, dammit. And although Lelouch is a huge asshole for swatting her away when she was trying to be kind, at least he realized it was wrong of him and bandaged her afterward. He's like this with everybody - hurting them out of his own carelessness and then feeling like crap afterwards. I hope he realizes the problem begins with him, and nips it in the bud to spare himself some angst (and the girls their lives... RIP Shirley Fennette).
Anyway, in my opinion it looks more and more like C.C. x Lelouch is going to be canon. They've removed the major obstacle - that of her immortality and inhuman nature as the Code holder. You could say before that she stuck around with Lelouch only because of her wish in the contract and that Lelouch kept her because she's a very useful ally (piloting Knightmare Frames and zapping enemies with her psionic powers), but now that she's entirely dependent on Lelouch, it's his feelings for her, or who she was/is, that keep them together.
I just don't like how they had her swing from totally sassy and independent to a whimpering little ball. Why can't a girl have an equal position with Lelouch, dammit.
3) Shippy sidestories.
Viletta! Where is Viletta? Clearly Ougi made it out alive, and Sayoko's in one piece too. It's highly unlikely that Ougi escaped unharmed and Viletta took fatal damage, so I think she's definitely alive but lurking in the shadows somewhere. I hope she didn't get hurt trying to protect Ougi. If she died saving him, just imagine the angst...T_T
Chiba x Toudou FTW. I have bad feelings about this one, though. Both of them come from a background that highly values kamikaze attacks. I've been expecting Toudou (and XingKe, sniff sniff) to kick the bucket any time soon and am amazed and happy that he's still alive.
4) Britannian bits.
I wish Miss Rohmeyer would leave Nunnally alone. First she tries to steal power away from Nunnally and deceive her, and now she's trying to force the buck onto her when the going gets tough. Talk about cowardice. And note to the gorram emperor: Stay dead! >.<
We were cheated out of a Cornelia revelation! reaction shot. She just goes straight to scorn for Lelouch without any, "But... but you're alive?!?" And she seemed to be a royal with warm and fuzzies for him too - at least while she thought he and Nunnally were dead.
Thank god for Lloyd knocking some sense in to Nina. I hate that girl because she's a scientist without context - she treats the world as her laboratory, forgetting that real people with real lives and real pains and sorrows inhabit it, and that what she does can lead to serious grief. Just because she's lost her Euphemia-sama doesn't mean that she gets to inflict similar loss on others. I normally can't stand Lloyd for a similar reason, but if Lloyd's calling Nina out, that just shows how hopeless the girl is.
5) What Suzaku does in Turn 16 besides getting the crap beaten out of him.
I do not like the Knight of Ten, so much that I refuse to look up his name. That guy is unhinged if he considers friendly fire okay. I hope his method of advancing among the Knights isn't just killing off anybody above him, because Gino (who's otherwise annoying) was just awesome when he defended Kallen there, and Suzaku was badass for catching his flying knives. And Anya was finally cool too...
My heart nearly stopped beating during what felt like an eternal pause before Lelouch admitted he was Zero to Suzaku. I was half expecting the latter to crush his cell phone to bits right then and there. Why did he seem so surprised, though? Suzaku was the one who brought it up in the first place. I hope it's because deep in his little hypocrisy-encrusted heart, Suzaku wishes Lelouch wasn't putting himself in direct conflict with Britannia again and all the warm friendly mushy things that implies. I am not a SuzaLulu shipper, but I do love it when they're being nice to each other instead of trying to shoot one another's brains out.
