productive!

Today our office was closed because of the snow. This hasn't happened in like, three years. It was nice.

I always set overly ambitious goals for myself for days when I have nothing planned, and then I do like, 0.05% of the tasks I have assigned for myself. Did I clean the kitchen today or do laundry or organize the recycling? HA! But... I did shovel a bunch of snow. I never really get a chance to do physical work and I often find that I really enjoy it.

And then possibly even MORE productive... I ordered wedding flowers and accessories and vases from a wholesaler. For under $750 I am getting everything I need for centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres delivered right to my doorstep. And because I am starved for arts and crafts, I am excited about the idea of doing it all myself. Basically the way it will work is: all the flowers will be delivered Thursday morning. I'll stick everything into vases, hand-tie some bouquets, wrap them in ribbon (crap, note to self: buy ribbon!) and make some boutonnieres on Friday, and hope that one of the parents with a minivan/SUV will help drive all the flowers to the reception hall on Saturday. Honestly I can imagine that I'll be so excited and antsy that I'll be glad to spend the day doing something with my hands. Plus, since our honeymoon won't be until 2009, I'll have plenty of vacation days I can take before the wedding to plan.

I really do like the idea of doing a lot of this myself, and I'm excited to see how it turns out!

For those of you who have been to more weddings than I have, what's typically done concerning boutonnieres/corsages? Is it a must that the mother of the bride and mother of the groom have them? Do the dads then get boutonnieres as well as the groom and groomsmen? I just don't want anyone's feelings to be hurt, but I don't want to make flower thingies that aren't really needed.

The good news is I have until like, June 20th to really worry about this!
