Through no-ones fault really, I accepted a job I couldn't complete within deadline (the horrible Actionscript WebService job), given less to do and longer deadline it may have been within my abilities but I hold my hands up and admit I'm not a flash expert.
Client hadn't made it clear we were using a webservice until I was sitting in their office, I knew it was possible but hadn't been aware of quite what a challenge it would be.
Anyway, somewhere in the region of 4 days of research I realised I wasn't going to get this done on time or in budget. Phoned up the agency to grovel this morning and not only were they absolutely fine about it but offered to pay for my research time and promised to pay my outstanding bills (not overdue) for previous work immediately to make up for me having a shitty few days working on it. I have refused the payment for the research and asked for a copy of the final source code instead so I can work out where the hell I was going wrong.
So, yeah, MASSIVE thanks to
Element UK for being far too nice for their own good.
