Ecce: I have a new second job, touching up/restoring original
Edward Curtis photogravures! FUCKING AWESOME. And my boss is fabulous. We work in her funny little house with her blue bathroom and siamese kitten and big goofy terrier mix puppy. It's a very short-term gig (there are only so many photos), probably two weeks at the outside, but the pay is the best I've ever had, and it's so low-key and easy and entertaining and gratifying to the eye. I'll be going every weekday morning for a couple of hours before leaving to do tilework in Edgewood, until one or the other of the jobs is finished.
Today I "practiced" on restrikes. I can see all of you history fans cringing out there--I know, I know, I have no certification for restoration--but I have no shortage of experience with 5/0 brushes and water media, and I can assure you, nothing went awry.
This week we'll finish up the restrikes and begin the originals. (I'm squealing on the inside as I type this!) Holy crap.
