Well, I guess the countdown sort of begins. Less than a month now before we go visit Albuquerque for the first time with living there in mind. We have one afternoon to visit every standing house selling between $50k-$80 within cycling distance of UNM (I understand there are about four). If none of those work out, we look for rentals the next morning before we make the 12-hour drive home.

Then a month and a half of painting as many commissions as I can possibly get my grubby little fingers on.

Today on the playground, Karly discovered the Mulberry tree in the corner of the playground and filled her pockets with the fruit. By the time her sister came to tell me that "the long cranberries were getting Karly's skirt all purple" and I went to check it out, she had about fifty berries packed in all around, front, side, and back pockets. Not at all disturbed at the mess, or at having to throw the berries away--very proud to have found so many.

There's a hawk of some kind roosting on top of our building. Every now and again it'll dive for one of the pigeons that mill around on top of the municipal courthouse across the street. It's especially easy to hear now that the weather is cool enough to open the windows again. Last year its little raptorlings could be heard all evening, in the spring...it'll be nice to have them back.

Now off to paint, and probably watch Sense & Sensibility again.
