I'm Off to Seattle Tonight

My best friend's baby shower is this Saturday at her house on Bainbridge Island, and I'm flying up to Seattle tonight.  I'm "co-hosting," but I feel like a terrible co-host because I haven't been able to do much.  I did all of the invitations, games, prizes, and favors, but her mom ordered all the food, tables, linens, cake, etc.  I will do most of the set-up on Saturday, so hopefully that will make up for some of it.  Anyway, can't wait to see Jill, but I don't think I'll get much time with her.  Her husband's mother and sister and niece are all in from Oregon (and her husband's mother & sister are a real piece of work, I won't even get into it, but Jill is a saint for putting up with them-I would have told them off long, long ago).  Anyway, her husband is coming back from Iraq tomorrow and she hasn't seen him since April!  He's in diplomatic security services and has spent the last year in Iraq protecting diplomats in Iraq.  Yeah, safe job.  Anyway, between having her husband come home, being due on Sept. 5, and dealing with a house full of guests, she is going to be one busy lady.  So I'm hoping to just be able to put together the shower and help her have fun and relax on Saturday.  Hopefully Steve and I will be able to make a trip up to see Jill and her husband in the fall, after the baby is born.  It's a boy, by the way.  A big shock to her at first (she always figured it would be a girl!), but she is thrilled.

I come back on Sunday.  Then only one more week of work until Mexico.  Yah!  We've made plans for our dinners every night.  I hope to do a lot of sleeping, reading, and working out on the vacation.  Yes, we are boring and not into sight-seeing.  I do hope I feel better by then.  I've got some sort of weird cold/allergy thing I've been dealing with for almost a week now and it won't go away.  Coughing and feeling really tired.  Yuck.  I really do not want to give it to Jill-what a bad friend I would be!!!!!  Anyway, must get working.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
