For part of yesterday and part of today I was in the tiny town of Guerneville visiting the Russian River with a group of 12 people. We rented a cabin nestled among some redwoods. I think the best time I had was when Brett L. (not Brett M. . . Hi, Brett M.!) played a Neutral Milk Hotel song on guitar and I sang along with him. Going in the river was also memorable because I'm pretty sure it was the first time I fully submerged myself in a river. I had to do it or Arvel was going to push me in. I also was forced to have a fake tattoo of roses put on my back. I didn't sleep well and when I woke up I saw a mosquito crushed into the carpet by my head, its pincers the only part of its body moving. It's getting hot and the bugs are coming out.
Also memorable: bringing the hose of cool water into the too hot hot tub, and the stars, which I can confirm do still exist at night in a bright abundance, even under the cover of redwood trees.
