I had this almost done last night but LJ ate it. So here we go again! Anyway, yoinked from
pattieisntcrazy and like her, I'm taking suggestions for other top 5 lists to do!
5. Yellowcard
If there were a band that could get me into bandom, this would be it. (Though, do they even count as bandom? Someone who is in bandom help me out!) I'd have a lot of fandom catching up to do (I never considered getting into them as a fandom before now, yanno?) Anyhow, I got into these guys in 2003, when they performed at my high school. Yes, my high school. It was awesome and everything stopped for an hour or so. I didn't consider them seriously until "Ocean Avenue" hit radio (which I now can't listen to because I played it to death back in the day. Lights & Sounds has some of the best songs ever.
And Ryan Key is hot. Yes he is.
4. The OtherHalf.
I would be lying if I said I didn't check these guys out because their lead singer is Nick Carter's sister and stayed for the sheer awesome that is the lead singer (who is still Nick Carter's sister, and totally my girl crush). And it's because she has the Carter family talent more so than the Carter family good looks (but she does have both!), really.
3. BeForU
This is the new lineup. Heh. Anyway this is the group that got me into J-Pop. I would choose their songs when I played, just to hear them. Yeah, and let's just say Riyu is my other girl crush. Oh, and you can't go wrong with a group where one of the members has the family name Tachibana...
2. w-inds.
I segued that so well, didn't I? So, you see, there's a story about these three. I was searching up BeForU PVs on YouTube, and their PV for "IT'S IN THE STARS" came up as a related video, so I figured, "Why not? I'll watch it." And the combination of the video and the first comment (at the time) being "It's Backstreet Boys -2!" had me hooked. And I've been hooked ever since.
1. Backstreet Boys
Seriously, seriously. Did you expect me to say anyone else? I mean, really. Though, I'm not one of those fans who can say she fell in love with her first listen of "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" or "As Long As You Love Me" or even "I Want It That Way." It happened one summer, where it was kind of inevitable because I'd been wanting to work on this website with a girl I met on ICQ (lol) where it was jointly about Nick and Taylor Hanson (and I was doing the Taylor half of it! ZOMG). Anyway, this summer (the one after Millennium came out), I took a family trip to California (I remember that one too, because while my sisters and cousins got coloring books to occupy them on the trip, I got teeny mags). The CD getting the most of my play time? Millennium. I also remember being at my other aunt's house staying the night, up at like 1AM watching MuchUSA on her satellite, and catching a videography on the Boys (where I learned of the short version of "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)"!). The rest, as they say, is history.
