Politics

I've been quiet on the matter this whole time, but now I don't want to be anymore. I don't care if people get mad at me for my political views, I don't care if people feel the need to look down on me because I'm a liberal now. This is me, and if you don't like it, tough.

Alright, here we go... Yes, I voted for Obama in November. I never said it in November, because so many people I know are passionate Republicans. Now, don't get me wrong... I think it's totally cool that you all are passionate about your beliefs. More power to you. Things don't happen because of apathetic people, you know. But to, inadvertently, call me stupid because of my choice for President? Ehhh...

So that's why I was fairly quiet about it until now. Because now, I don't have to be. It's done. My choice won, he's been sworn in, he's President. Good luck to the Republicans in 2012, you know?

As for my views on the Republicans? I honestly, honestly think John McCain could have made a strong running if he had made some different choices. No, I don't think Palin was a good VP candidate. Maybe in a few years (And I know, I know... Obama is just as inexperienced, and he won. I actually thought Hillary was the better choice for the Democrats, but that's neither here nor there.), she'll be a better pick. She has strong points and weak points, just like everyone else. McCain's "suspending" of his campaign also hurt him, IMO. I don't hate the man, in fact I have a fuckton of respect for him. I just don't agree with his opinion on certain things.

Also, I thought Bush was a good President at first. I commend him for the way he handled the Nation post-9/11. I'm not sure anyone else could have done a better job. I also think the war on Iraq was silly, when Afghanistan was who we should have been focusing our efforts on first. Preemptive Strike: Not always a good thing. And I truly believe the media's focus on "Bushisms" was a little ridiculous (as was their focus on the Clinton/Lewinski thing). What does any of that have to do with how he runs the country? Not a God damn thing.

And, I'll be honest with you. I never followed the campaign hype. My opinion was, in all actuality, based on one thing: I went to a site, that listed all the candidates' (this was set up for the primaries) opinions on every major matter, and compared Obama to McCain. I had two issues that mattered to me: education and gay rights. Obama's stances on both those matters matched mine, which is why I voted for him. Nothing more, nothing less. The issues.

Which is how it should be.
