An election post that has nothing to do with Obama or McCain!

Nov 05, 2008 01:55

I told myself that I wouldn't mention my opinions on the outcome of the Presidential election last night on any of my public spaces (meaning LiveJournal, Facebook, MySpace and Twitter) and I'm not. At least not deliberately. Chat rooms and IMs, however, are fair game, so if you must know, you can contact me privately.

Anyway, that's not what this post is about.

It's about Arizona Proposition 102 and California Proposition 8.

Both propositions had the same goal: Define marriage in their respective states' constitutions as between a man and a woman.

Both propositions passed.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now, you have no idea. When I saw that it (Arizona Prop 102) was projected to pass, I almost cried. I got choked up and felt the tears welling in my eyes. I couldn't believe this was happening.

I'm way more shocked by the outcome of Prop 8, what with California being a totally liberal, totally blue State.

As much as I wanted to believe it wasn't gonna happen... Prop 102 passing doesn't surprise me. We're talking about a State that has NO LAWS PROHIBITING EMPLOYERS FROM DISCRIMINATING ON THE BASIS OF SEXUAL PREFERENCE. *rolls eyes*

The good news? My county shot 102 down. The bad news? WE WERE THE ONLY ONE IN THE FUCKING STATE.

I HATE ARIZONA SO FUCKING MUCH RIGHT NOW. SO FUCKING MUCH.
