A clean slate to put things back into a semblance of order...

When I first started sharing my art online, I had one blog for the art and my personal posts. It worked for a while, until my interests were not solely restricted to one fandom anymore. So I started another blog for my personal stuff, the fandom blog returned to being what it was intended to be... until I felt that I had finally lost all interest in that fandom, and more or less left the first blog to lie sleeping. My private blog once more became a merry mix of personal, artsy and other stuff, and it's been annoying me at times. Since I've been playing with the idea of getting rid of the fandom-related username for a while now, I decided to go ahead and start an artblog again - only this time, it's connected to my site and no longer to any particular fandom.

So.

This place will be dedicated to my art only. I'll continue to potter about over at menegroth (with the option of changing the username/locking the majority of the posts there later) in the hopes that this will avoid confusion and be more useful for the people who simply want to keep track of my artsy scribblings.

One other thing that I've managed with this new LJ is, I'm no longer restricted by fandom matters. In this place I might, now and then, share an original sketch with you, post drawbles, open art-related discussions and generally be my artsy self. Most importantly, I hope there'll be no need for locked posts. (Knowing myself, I don't suppose there will be anything so naughty here that putting it behind a cut and warning wouldn't take care of it...) I want this to be the place of interaction with you that my website can't be, however well the guestbook works.
Unless they have something to do with art there will be no rants, and no whining about my job/studies/RL. Just indulging in paper, pens and brushes...

If you like the sound of that, please do come in! There's always tea and cookies over by the fireplace... :)

Finally, a quick word on "friending": I don't want this LJ to have any sort of "friending policy". IMHO, that's a very misleading choice of words that implies more than it should. Personally, I think of my "friends list" as a newspaper page that contains stuff I'd like to read. I add people that have something interesting to say or share to my list, and I go through it when I have the time. If it turns out to be not that interesting after all, I believe it's alright to part ways again.

Think of this as a cozy tea salon where people come and go, sometimes sitting down for a cuppa and a chat, and sometimes just for a quick look. Discussion, constructive critisism and feedback is welcome and highly appreciated. And if you prefer to lurk in the shadows, no problem! Anything is fine as long as you leave the dirty boots and the bad manners at the door... ;)

Means, if you are interested in the contents of this blog, feel free to add me to your list. If you don't want to, that's just as well. I won't hold that against you. You do not need to ask for permission before hitting the "add" button, but if you want to introduce yourself, that's fine. :) Same goes for leaving, btw.

Hope to see you all later!
~Eve
