"Friendly Banter"
Indian inks, black and coloured, on brown sketching paper,
digitally added frame

I'm finally getting back to my art journal after half a year's hiatus - only to notice I barely remember how to make an art post. Luckily all my art posts follow the same outline with just blanks to be filled in (for the links and blurbs), otherwise all the pictures I still have to share here would forever sit in their dark cardboard folder and on my hard drive...
Either way, I am off work today and in a mood for blogging, so you get art!

This started out as just a test for a new kind of sketching paper. It's brown, it's rough, and it has a somewhat lined structure due to the production process. I suppose it might be easy to write on it with a quill - but if you can write with a quill, you can just as well draw with a nib. Which is what I did.
The outlines are done in black ink, then filled out by crosshatching with coloured inks in sepia, white and burnt sienna.

I rather like the outcome ~ even if I have no idea what the boys are talking about there...
