yes, this weekend summed up my entire guard "career". 4 years of hard work all paid off though. friday night at the game we ALMOST won, like we were ahead with 2:56 in the 4th qtr & then with like 30 or 50 secs. left murphy scored and they got ahead and we just couldn't get back in the game. it was really sad to see the football players cry during the alma mater. i even felt like crying myself. No more friday night football games. It's all over. so then i think everyone was in a bad mood bc mr duncan screamed at the entire band after the show. plus the guard had already gotten our butts chewed out by leanne after halftime b/c she ended up w/ out a flag. then yesterday we had to be at the school at 8 and me and amanda didnt get to bed til after 1 so we were needless to say tired. we left the school and then got to Tate and went to warm-up and performed prelims @ 11:15. the show was awesome at prelims but weapons had a few drops but we still felt pretty confident. so we went and changed back into our clothes and got to the stands JUST in time to see daphne. (what a joke) daphne is good dont get me wrong but their weapons dropped about 20 times during prelims!! so after all the bands go including my personal favorite TATE, and then the infamous Choctawhatchee (whom i do love as well, especially their winterguard... even though they always win when tate should win) then we had awards and in florida they have a different calibur for scoring its like Distinguished, Superior, Proficient. so 2 bands got proficient which isnt very good and then everyone else except choctaw got superior, choctaw got distinguished (surprise surprise). so i didnt feel bad that we didnt get distinguished bc all the other reallyreally good bands got superior too which superior is still good. plus we got best music. so then we went back to the buses and talked about the scores and all and turns out the guard got an 86, which is a distinguised score!!! we were sosososo excited! DISTINGUISED GUARD! the drumline didn't even score near us and our line is pretty good. then we performed at finals (and did really well) and watched everyone else and then went for a full retreat like at Winter guard finals where everyone goes the field for awards. we got 10th place and i think we should've gotten better. and choctaw got 1st (duhh) and they shouldn't have Ft. Walton Bch was better. and the choctaw weapons dropped 8 times in 1 song!! i mean come on. its just b/c of "who they are" everyone knows choctaw for excellence so when they mess up they just ignore it. they try to make them see something else thats not really happening. oh well. it was a really good ending to my guard "career". i admit im going to miss guard so much. thinking about it makes me cry. but i have so much ahead of me that closing this door seems so minor in the long run. i'll never forget all the great times i've had with guard. especially this year. getting to be part of fairhopes guard has meant the world to me. i've gone through soo much with guard over the past years and this year made it all worthwhile. i'll always have these memories in my heart and i'll carry them with me everywhere i go throughout life. and now...graduation is nearing.
one last time: "clap your hands everybody, everybody clap your hands we're the fairhope guard thats who we are, we're the best in the land" clap slap clap clap slap clap slap clap slap clap clap. clap slap clap clap slap clap slap clap slap clap clap.
& one last note... ROLL TIDE! 17-0 biotches! WE ARE 9 AND 0. WOOHOO. hell yeah! LSU here we come! and AUBURN BETTER BE GETTING READY.
