I started training today for work as a hostess at CPK. it wasn't bad at all. we ate food...which is always a bonus. we tried a bunch of appetizers today...let me just say that the spinach and artichoke dip is AMAZING!!! the singapore shrimp rolls...also really good, but they're prepared only in the morning, and they take a while to make, so if you get there late, there might not be many left. the sesame-ginger chicken dumplings were good...but not something i'd order. i'm not a huge fan of dumplings. the thai chicken tortilla spring rolls, again, good...but not something i'd order. my co-workers said the baja chicken tortilla spring rolls were really good. tuscan hummus...very good, however, it is made from tuscan white beans instead of garbonzo beans, so it's a little lighter and thinner. still very good though. california shrimp cocktail is good, it's cabbage, avacado and shrimp, the presentation of it is beautiful, however, since it is stacked so high, it is a little hard to get at. as for soups...my favorite of the three (adobe chicken chowder, sedona tortilla, dakota smashed pea and barley) is definitely the dakota smashed pea and barley. i highly recommend it as long as you like pea soup. the pea and tortilla soups are both vegetarian, including the base...both use veggie broth. if you're gonna go with focaccia bread, i'd recommend the herb-onion instead of the garlic cheese. just a personal preference. we tried the hawaiian pizza but substituted pepperoni for canadian bacon. it was good, but it's not my favorite pizza. we tried two desserts, the key lime pie, and the caramel pecan cheesecake. i've never really liked key lime pie, but let me tell you, it is to die for! the caramel pecan cheesecake is good, but i'd take the key lime over it any day. both are big, so i recommend you split them between two people. so yeah, those are my recommendations for the day...if you have any questions feel free to ask. i'll let you know what the other good items are once i try them. haha. oh man, i'm so good at my job! haha.
