So there was this cool art meme going around that I found via one of my long time favorite artists
aidosaur . The artist Harvey James
harveyjames was having a contest where he asked people to redraw some of his cats in hats characters (see below) into a real girl.
Here are two that I managed to come up with.

Once he has the opportunity, he'll be compiling all of the images into one image (which is looking like it's going to be huge!). Check out his lj and take a look at some of the ones that have been submitted. There are some really talented people!
Once thing that I did learn from this is that 1.) while my understanding of anatomy is there, my ability to make more gestural drawings (and less stiff) is not quite there yet. I think is partly due to point 2.) my ability to digital ink over a drawn pencil sketch is very sub par at best. I think a lot of the stiffness comes from my inability to use this medium effectively. While I do have a tablet, I find that often I'm disappointed more with my digital work than the stuff I do with real media. I want to become better at inking and think I've gotten better than I was before, but I'm not quite there yet. I'm really trying to break away from my safety zone a bit and experiment more on becoming looser and more gestural as well as translating it into digital stuff.
For those who are a fan of my painting stuff, I do have some mini paintings that have been in the works for a bit, so I'll try to post those soon!
