Things work out sometimes

Today was beautiful.  Well, aside from the fact that it was the same temperature here and in Austin, TX today, and I live in Not-Texas for a reason.  Dear Sphere-Shaped Sky Inferno, I'm about ready for step outside/burst into flames season to be over now, please.  Much love, me.

So many shiny new things at work for the Egyptology exhibit.  It's all I can do not to send a 150-pound box to Miss Mamie B in the Netherlands.  My favorite thing to unpack at work is new books, but a VERY close second is the Egyptian stuff.  So fun.  Anyway, that was awesome, and combined with the fact that today was Cookie Day (the day when Matthew the security guard's mom sends the best cookies in the world to the museum), my day at work was simply great.  Classes were fine, if you remove the damp, salty trek between class and the nice, cave-like museum temperatures.

After classes and work ended, my mom took me to get a new phone.  I didn't realize she was planning to treat me to a new phone, I mostly took her along for company, advice, and a ride so I wouldn't have to leave my parking space.  She bought me a shiny new blue LG Rumor, however, and I love it.  It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and a camera that takes both stills and videos.  I also have a 1GB memory card for photos, video, or MP3s.  Yay!  I have no idea how to work most of the features yet, but I haven't had a chance to read the book.  I'll figure it all out.  We got a really good deal on it.  The best part, however, was not the phone (though that's certainly awesome).  The BEST part was that my old phone made one last-ditch effort to live.  It can't connect to the network, but it managed to turn on.  The salesman was even able to transfer all of my info over to the new phone (*cue trumpets, angelic choir, and light breaking through clouds*).  Whee!

Upon arriving home, I found out that my Facebook account was finally fixed, and now I am connected to the outside world in every way I ever have been.  Whee!  I couldn't log in yet, though, I had to head out and dance.  Many of my closer friends were missing (which I should start assuming will be the norm from now on and decide to have NEW closer friends), but that hardly lessens the good company to be had.  I had lots of dances with atypical dance partners for me, which can make for a very fun night (and did, in this case).  After dancing, we went out for beer, which has become a very fun, but pocket-draining ritual.  I can't decide whether to quit or not.  Not yet, I need to get to know new people, as my old people are falling away.

At any rate, a very good day.  Now, two heinous canker sores, please go away.  You make me cranky in spite of all the goodness.
