Moving Moving Moving

We signed our lease yesterday.  We walked into the office at 9:20 and the lady was like, do you have any errands? Because it's going to be 45 min. till I can get to you.   So Josh and I and a car full of explosives and chemicals went to Target.  Luckily it was the hottest day of the weekend (95 deg. F) and there was not a single tree in the parking lot giving off shade.  Target is less than 2 min. from my house.  I could walk there in less than 15 min.  I was going to say 10, but I am a slow slow walker.  The sad part is that I no longer love Target as I used it.  It rarely has exactly what I need and whatever it does have I feel is just too expensive.  Except the shoes.  I love Target clearance shoes....but once I get my job I am going to start being uber picky about them.  I am going to buy fewer but much more expensive shoes.  I want shoes that last and are comfortable.  So that means expensive shoes.  So in Target, Josh and I try to figure out what we need for the apartment, but don't really know because we haven't seen it yet.  We got a shower curtain and rings.  I wanted the expensive rings that are cute and Josh wanted the expensive curtain that is mold resistant.  Josh won out and we got the 1$ rings and the 12$ curtain instead of vice versa.  I do hate mold more than I care about shower curtain rings...plus I can always buy cute ones later or ask for them for Christmas (lame, I don't want them for Christmas!).  And then we picked up more explosives (scrubbing bubbles in a pressurized can) and some dishwasher detergent b/c I am getting a dishwasher!  I had to steer Josh away from the video games b/c I was in no mood to wait while he played a demo.  And then I had to convince Josh that we could not afford a pack of magic cards right now and that WHERE THE HELL WOULD I PUT THEM WHILE MOVING EVERYTHING INTO AN EMPTY APARTMENT?  Seriously?  That was really hard and annoying because I did want to get them for him, I did, but we just couldn't.  Sometimes I wish he'd be just a tad more responsible so I wouldn't have to be.  But I was in a pretty grumpy mood by that time too, so maybe that was part of it.

I should mention the explosives and chemicals in my car include a gas stove can of compressed gas, spray in conditioner, ammonia, and spray cleaners.  I was very worried that they would expand and explode in the intense heat.

Back at the apartment, the manager talks to us.  He has a white ring of toothpaste that wasn't properly rinsed off all around his lips.  He is very effeminate.  I don't know if he is gay or just really loves being the manager of an apartment complex.  I don't think he's gay, just not too manly.  He gave us the papers to start reading and then left.  Then this lady who didn't explain things in a way I could understand came and helped us sign the lease.  I think she was annoyed that Josh would read every word of each page he had to sign.  But this IS where Josh is responsible...he does not sign things he doesn't know what they say.  I do.  See, we do make a great team!  There were so many annoying rules we had to read and agree too.  Apparently we aren't even allowed to have a grill any where on the apartment property, let alone use it.  BUT there are built in public grills every where (like the ones in parks) that we can use, I assume.  Ours by our buiding doesn't have a picnic table, but some do.  I'm going to ask to see if we can get one.  Here's the funny/annoying part, I asked two different workers there, the lady helping us and the she asked another lady worker, and neither of them knew if there were grill stations Josh and I could use!  How can you not know?  They're everywhere and easy to see!  Another rule, no alchohal at the pool BUT you can smoke ciggerattes there.  I tried asking the lady about that one...and she thought I was arguing about it and didn't answer my questions at all.  I wasn't argueing, I was juts confused.  I mean, I'd rather have people responsibly drinking by my pool if I had kids, than people chain smoking!  And I know it's hard to enforce responsibly drinking, so I can understand the no alcohal rule...but I sorta wish there was a no smoking rule too.  FYI, I already plan on breaking the no alchohal rule...that's what Nalgene's are really for. :)

We get to the apartment...it is the furthest back and farthest away in the whole complex which I like.  Josh and I sat on the porch, and looked at our view...which I was hoping was going to be a good one...but it isn't.  But you can't win them all.  We look at the parkinglot and the building across from us.  But behind it is hills and trees and nature...quite beautiful.  And a giant power line tower.  I like it.  If we were on the otherside of the building we would be seeing a giant wall of trees.  It is sooo much quieter there than here.  It's silent there.  I can't wait to get used to that.

We clean, unpack, eat lunch, and go home.  None of the explosives or chemicals exploded which is good.  Oh, it's against the rules to even bring that can of gas into the apartment.

Then Shann called and was like, weren't you guys moving today? would you like some help? and I was like YES!  And he came over and with his vehicle and packing skills we were able to move almost all the boxes we have packed already and everything from the storage loft.  I am so glad he was able to help.  He also helped Josh get the really heavy yet fragile tubs down from the storage loft which I wouldn't have been able to do.

So today I pack everything else up into little boxes and tomorrow we get a big moving truck and move everything else all at once.  I need coffee, breakfast, music, and clothes before I can get started though!
