Last night Renee and I went to a Psychic and had our cards read.
She was doing $20 readings for charity (snork....)
Anyways, I like watching professional psychics because it is interesting to see the cold reading technique they often use. She was pretty accurate in terms of generalities; but a little sketchier when it came to the details. I was incredibly skeptical when she told us to make two wishes. My two wishes? A cure for Cancer and independant wealth.
Renee was told she was getting married and will have three kids. So Renee asked who she was going to marry. The answer? "I don't know, but it will happen within the next six months" righteo there. In six months I'll let you know if it happened.
I was a trickier read, because I didn't volunteer any information at all. So mine was full of generalities. Like "I see you living someplace warm in the near future." Until the end, when she asked "You are in a relationship?" and I chortled a bit. Her response? "I see a strong connection with you and someone. His initial is 'B'. First or last name. Who is he?" When I told her I couldn't think of anyone, she told me to keep my eyes open.
Now I don't have to tell you that not only am I not dating anyone with that initial, but I went through my embarrassingly long dating history in my head, and I have never dated anyone with that initial, nor do I KNOW anyone with that initial. She managed to pick the only letter I couldn't think of someone for. I can even pull out a "z"! Way to go psychic lady!
So when we left, Renee and I were laughing and trying to figure out how to use our newfound information at a little bar with a not remarkable blues band, and a couple skeevy guys came to hit on us.
I ask them their initials. RH, and JL.
I told them not to waste their time. I've got my eyes out for a "B".
