Christmas was different this year. Both my mom and my dad's dinners were on Christmas day and traditionally I had dinner with my mom on Christmas eve and my dad on Chirstmas day. It changed for a few reason, my uncle and his wife decided they didn't want to have dinner on Christmas eve with us, was the main reason. So, I ended up splitting my time between each side of the family. Fortunatly/unfortunatly I only got to spend about 2 hours with my dad. This was because my brother and new daddy Phillip needed to go to moms, so they(Phillip, his girl friend Amanda and their daughter Jasmine) could eventually go to Amanda's side of the families dinner. Well, they were my ride so I had to leave too. I kinda wanted to stay because I hadn't seen my dad and my grandparents in a long time...but I got to spend more time with my little neice Jasmine, whom I have just met on Christmas eve.
Christmas was hard this year though...on Christmas eve Phillip's house burned down, destroy pretty much everything he, Amanda and her parents own. So everyone in the family was trying to gather clothing and necessary supplies that they are all going to need. Luckily no one was in the house, but all the pets were killed. It's sad. But it could have been much worse. It just sucks that it had to happen during Christmas.
Hmm, lets see. Yesterday I got woke up to a phone call asking me to babysit Jasmine. I of course said yes because Phillip and Amanda needed to go home and try to salvage what they could from the remains of the house and I wanted to spend more time with Jasmine. It was really nice to get to know her because I probably won't get to see her for quite a while because I never come home (Mt. Pleasant is my home, really) and Phillip and Amanda don't come home very ofter either. She'll most likely be talking full sentences, which is quite different from the adorable "Da da da da" that she does now. She is really cute, I wish I was able to spend more time with her, and watch her grow up. She is my first neice after all.
Other that spending time with my neice not too much has been happening really...watching movies, did a little after christmas shopping, avoiding family arguments because I can't stand them, got my hair trimmed :-), talking on the phone with a very good friend. I missed being home...but if I could have gone back to Mt. Pleasant today I wouldn't have been crying. I'll probably be going back on Wednesday because I will have to work as soon as the 30th.
Ok, I guess this post is long enough...
