A month ago or so, I went to a talk by Bloomington Rep. Matt Pierce who was one of the few who voted against the telecom deregulation bill. Everyone either ignored this bill or thought it would be great for out community. But guess what, big business does not push these bills because they want to help the little people in southern indiana. But this is phone service, but what about the Internet, something that we have come to depend on as a place of free expression, no matter how much we could hate it (see the Bill O'Reilly madness below). Some big internet providers are trying to privatize the Internet, and that could be trouble, in my humble opinion.
