no rest for the wicked

I don't know what hurt more- the bullets tearing through my chest, or the fact that Angel had managed to beat me. He'd beat me at a game I was good at. I certainly wasn't expecting something like that to happen. Shot by one of his lackeys. By Lorne of all people. I deserved something better. Angel should have done it himself.

I hated what I felt before it all faded away. I've never liked being scared or helpless. And there wasn't a damn thing I could do to stop it. As I took my final breath I remembered what I'd done. This wouldn't be the end. Not by a long shot. I'd signed a contract. They owned me.

I hadn't seen her in a few years. Being dead hadn't made her look any less stunning. It was hard to look at the scar on her neck without wincing though. Nodded at her. Lilah had a sad smile on her face. "You know where we're going, right?", she asked.

"Hell?" I laughed, running my fingers through my hair.

She responded with a chuckle of her own. "Worse. Time to get back to work Lindsey. We've been expecting you."
