At 11pm, we were watching MSNBC's coverage of the election. We heard a loud roar from next door and immediately switched to CNN, which had previously been a little bit more conservative in reporting projections, and saw the headline, "BARAK OBAMA WINS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION [CNN Projection]" and screamed. My mom called to congratulate me on voting for a winning candidate my first time participating in the polls, we cracked open a bottle of wine, and ran outside to celebrate with the rest of Northwoods.
McCain's conciliatory speech was classy. Obama's acceptance speech was earth-shattering. Courtney cried and I, admittedly, was tearing up.
This is revolutionary on a bunch of levels. It's a 180 from the current regime, it's the largest voter turn-out in history, it's the largest youth vote in history, and it's our first [half-]black president.
And dear god, I could not be more thrilled.
