Epilogue

Jul 24, 2007 14:53

I've been back in the States for a little more than 3 weeks now. I think I've slept for most of them. Or at least tried to. It took me hours to get through all of my pictures, what with uploading, printing, organizing, and album-ing them. But all that is done, and this is the last little bit of my trip left to document: The journey home.

My greatest fears were not realized that day, some of my greatest airport inconveniences were. Even at 4:30 in the morning, for the first flight of the day, the check-in line was still horrible, and we were greeted by our last EF Tour director who told us that a car bomb had gone off in Scotland a few hours before. She said that the airport in London was still up and running, but if there was news of anything else happening, then we may have to be prepared to be in London a few extra days. Needless to say, I was tense until we landed in London, to find it still opened.

I was probably still tense at the time, but I was too busy sprinting to the next gate for our connecting flight to Houston. We even had to go through security again. And then we boarded the plane that we'd be on for the next 10 hours. The flight was completely full, and I didn't even get to sit by anyone from our group. We were all scattered. So I tried to sleep, but by that time, I was afraid of terrorists. Plus it was the Official Screaming Baby Flight.

But luckily there were entertaining movies playing, so I watched 300, and Blades of Glory.

It was SUCH a long flight. Even looking back now, when the jet lag should be gone, that freaking flight was excruciatingly long. I'm antsy just thinking about it.

But other than that, it was no nightmare. The line through customs in Houston was manageable, and the first meal that I had upon entering the U S of A was from Cracker Barrell and it was everything I'd been dreaming it would be.

So I hope you've all enjoyed my little flashbacks through Europe. I probably won't have anything interesting to say for a while. You'll have to put up with Karalee's pregnancy posts instead. :D
