Oh whoa…and no. You, Me and Dupree was an abominable piece of unwatchable crap. Close to two hours of nothingness caught on film and not good nothingness like Napoleon Dynamite.
I guess you could categorize the movie as a romantic comedy but it was neither endearing nor funny. You don’t sympathize, empathize, or give a rat’s ass for any of the three leads. The plot goes nowhere and the jokes are stale. There is no chemistry between Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson (and I was expected to believe they were married and meant for each other. Please. Whatever) and Owen Wilson just isn’t that great without Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn. I have nothing against Dillon, Hudson or Wilson. I’ve liked other movies they were in. I loved The Outsiders, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days was sweet and Wedding Crashers was pretty hilarious but this was so unbelievably bad. It was terrible and with no redeeming qualities.
Sarah and I left the film before it ended. I have never, ever in my life left a movie before it ended. For heavens sake I sat through Cat Woman and Just My Luck. Basically, I feel jipped. I paid close to 12 dollars to see that movie. TWELVE DOLLARS. I know I can’t get a refund but I can still warn others not to see the movie and save their money. I can never have those 2 hours back. It was a lost afternoon.
