So offhand the other day I wrote down all of the crazy noises occurring around me in my neighborhood. They begin at 9:30 por la mañana y continua endlessly thoughout the day. Also I live in kind of a high rise apartment, but we have a plaza in the middle, do get excited though, bc our plaza is a parking lot, not flowers and grass and trees like you would expect.
ok noises:
1. The egg man--he sings out over a loud speaker to the buildings something like, "I´ve got eggs, eggs here" (it echos)
2. The knife sharpening man--for awhile I thought his noise was a child obsessed with his recorder (you know the plastic whistle thing)- no I finally asked, and my family explained it is a man who at all hours drives around and sharpens peoples knives
3. The gas men--this took awhile to understand as well, they have a different gas system in their houses here, so everyone uses tanks of gas, which resemble kegs of beer, anyway they drive around and stand in the middle of the plaza and bang these kegs of gas against the side of their truck so people can stick their heads our their windows and the gas men will come up carrying a new tank.
4. Construction--no need to explain--lets just say they aren´t bashful about making noise here
5. Dogs barking--once again not bashful unlike the dogs in the us, I swear the dogs here are encouraged to bark endlessly
6. Children playing--cute except when you are sick and trying to sleep at 11 at night--also they like to throw temper tantrums in the plaza (echos)
wow this became quite lengthy--one more thought
If I thought the spanish had a way with words, I have definitely not had enough contact with english men. I met some last night and quickly fell in love with 2. Though now I don´t know who to call since they gave me their numbers but are only in town 2 nights.
One a cute blond with a tongue ring who studied chemistry in college. (I cant say his name but I think it is something like Kenneth) no sé.
The other I really want to marry and run off with. His name is Alan (By now I should be too cynical for this, but somehow I believed everything he said) I think it has to do with the fact that I could express mis pensamientos(thoughts) en inglés. Anyway he is a writer who didn´t go to college, but made enough money publishing his book to retire and move to hungary. (he is I think 26) He travels a lot, and one of his friends said he also has a flat in Rome. Love, I am in love. He told me I was a girl he could bring home to meet his mom and that at bars you meet a lot of stupid girls, but he said I was the first not to speak rubbish. He also had his camera stolen (last night out side the bar) and said I was the only reason his night was good.
Problems, I have problems, first of all I can´t believe I wrote this second I can´t believe I am going to call them tonight. ps I had to do homework this morning and definitely got in bed at 4:45--the spanish way of life ¿No?
pps I miss you guys and wish I could share this with you, drink with you, and flirt with cute spanish, irish, australian, y english men here.
